Previously, Platte and Buchanan counties had been part of Clay County until an act by the Missouri legislature separated and created the new boundaries after the Platte Purchase of 1836.

Glen has been a driving force in the continued success of Cruise Nights hosted monthly by the Main Street Parkville Association. Glen provided direction from the start to help market, implement, and grow Cruise Nights. As a result, Cruise Nights continue to be a success and bring several hundred visitors to Parkville the first Saturday of every month, April through October (weather permitting).

In honor of National Volunteer Week the City of Parkville would like to recognize Deb Ayers!
Deb has been an amazing volunteer for the Park Hill South Band Program over the past few years. She has helped run numerous fundraisers, sewed the Park Hill South Spirit Flag (which was 30 yards by 40 yards), and volunteered to create all flags for the marching band and winter guard.
One community member said “Deb is an amazing advocate for the Arts in our school and community.”

Cory has been an active member of the community for many years and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Cory is a member of the EDC, CLARB, and other local groups. He was one of the original founders of the Friends of Parkville Parks, which raises money for park enhancements and continues to donate time and energy to many events.
One community member said “He is a good man and has been neglected in getting the recognition he so richly deserves in the community.”

In honor of National Volunteer Week the City of Parkville would like to recognize the 2013 Main Street Parkville Association (MSPA) Board of Officers!
In 2013, the MSPA Director was out for several months due to an illness and the Board of Officers had to go above and beyond their title duties. The volunteer Board managed the daily operations of the office and organized Christmas on the River. With their strength and dependability the MSPA continued to thrive.
Deborah Butcher served as Chair of the Main Street Parkville Association in 2013. Deborah is a resident of Parkville and has served in various volunteer roles for a number of years. Deborah went above and beyond in her role as Chair and put in many hours to restructure MSPA policies and procedures.
Cathy Kline served as Vice Chair of the Main Street Parkville Association in 2013. She has also volunteered to raise awareness of Parkville as an art destination, served on the PCDC Board, and painted countless items for fundraising activities.
Genevra Boucher served as Secretary for the Main Street Parkville Association in 2013. She has also volunteered in countless other ways including distributing MSPA maps, volunteering at festivals, and serving on committees.
Carol Kuhns served as Treasurer for the Main Street Parkville Association in 2013. Additionally, she has been as one of the co-chairs for Christmas on the River and previously served as Chair of the MSPA.

Currently it is her 12th year volunteering as leader of Girl Scout Troop 337 (Carla has been a Girl Scout since she was a second grade Brownie). She has also volunteered on Girl Scout councils in Texas, Connecticut, and Kansas City to help coordinate teen Scout programs before becoming a parent and a leader.
Additionally, she has worked on Girl Scout events ranging from fire and knife safety to a being a organizer for national programs.
