This page contains a list of documents we require in order to approve your business license to conduct business within the city limits of Parkville. All businesses will be required to make sure that all items under the All Businesses category are current and/or submitted with the application. The other categories list the requirements specific to the type of business being conducted. In addition to the requirements for all businesses, the requirements for the type of business will also be required. This process must be completed for all new businesses, as well as businesses that have changed location, name or ownership.

All Businesses

- Emergency Contact Information for Police Department (not required for home-based businesses; on file with PD in case of emergency)
- Southern Platte Fire Protection District and City inspections for certificates of occupancy (must be completed prior to opening; not required for home-based businesses)
You must also submit the additional requirements based on the type of business (retail, food preparation/sales, alcohol sales, contractors, other, fireworks or home-based businesses).

Copies of your Missouri and Platte County liquor licenses are required for renewals only. For businesses that open within ten months of the end of the licensing period (August through May), the liquor license rate will be prorated at 10% per month of the total annual rate. A change in managing officer requires a new application.
General Contractor or Contractor

- License Fee Payment ($50 for contractors, $75 for general contractors)
A copy of your current workers’ compensation policy or affidavit of exemption are required prior to approval of your business license, per RSMo 287.061.
- Requirements for all businesses
- Written permission from property owner
- Copy of Missouri Fireworks Permit from the Missouri Department of Public Safety Division of Fire Safety
- Bodily injury and property damage liability insurance in the amount of $800,000, individual and aggregate, naming the City of Parkville as additional insured
- Missouri Temporary Sales Tax Certificate for tent’s Parkville location (more info)
- Current Platte County Merchant’s License (more info)
- Plot plan of tract showing location of stand, dimensions of building and distances from street, property lines, adequate off-street parking and other buildings in the lot
- Southern Platte Fire Protection District and City of Parkville inspections for certificates of occupancy
- Tent should be set up and ready but inspections must be passed prior to opening tent to customers
- Recommend scheduling inspection appointment with Fire District immediately after submitting documents to guarantee the tent will be inspected as required

*With Parkville designation – business must be registered for retail sales at the Parkville location. This ensures that the sales taxes are appropriated correctly.
