The City of Parkville is pleased to announce that residents have several options to get rid of unwanted materials, yard waste, household hazardous waste and other recyclable materials through events in October. For the safety of City staff and Parkville residents, some of these fall recycling events have been changed due to COVID.
The City will hold its annual fall cleanup event on Saturday, October 10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Damon Pursell lot at 6305 NW River Park Drive. Due to COVID, residents will be required to remove items from their vehicles and place them in the dumpsters. Proof of residency is required
- Items collected include small limbs (must be bundled or tied), bagged leaves and grass (no plastic bags), used car batteries, scrap metal, water heaters, auto parts, metal products, air conditioners without compressor, washers and dryers without motor, tires, furniture and household debris.
- Items not collected include paint, air conditioner compressors, washer/dryer motors and household hazardous waste (HHW) items..
Parkville residents can also participate in the City’s annual curbside pickup on Monday, October 12. Items must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. Due to COVID, residents will be limited to five items only and items must not be larger than one person can carry. Yard waste must be bagged and tree limbs must be bundled at a maximum of four feet in length. Items collected include small limbs, leaves and grass (no plastic bags), used batteries, scrap metal, auto parts, metal products, air conditioners without compressors, tires and household debris. Items not collected include paint, household hazardous waste, large appliances, couches and large furniture
Parkville residents can drop off yard waste beginning at no charge on Monday, October 12 through Wednesday, November 25 (excluding holidays) at 6305 NW River Park Drive any time Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Yard waste does not have to be bagged. The City has the right to limit the amount of yard waste accepted. Proof of residency is required.
The last electronics recycling and paper shredding events of 2020 will be held on Saturday, October 3 near the dog parks in Platte Landing Park.
- The electronics recycling event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. Electronics recycling is open to everyone – not just Parkville residents. Essentially anything with a cord or battery (working or not) are accepted. Anyone can rid of freezers, cell phones or other electronic items for free, but there is a charge to recycle some electronics.
- The paper shredding event will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.. Paper shredding is open to Parkville residents only. Limit two boxes per resident. All binder clips and plastic must be removed. Secure document shredding is provided on-site by Midwest Shredding Service.
