Executive Director: Main Street Parkville Association
**Please note that this is not a position with the City of Parkville, however the City is helping to promote the open position for the Main Street Parkville Association.
The Executive Director is the executive officer for the Main Street Parkville Association, a Committee of the Parkville Community Development Corporation, a 501©3 charitable organization.
Main Street Parkville Association is organized to plan and implement activities to assure that Downtown Historic Parkville remains an economically viable, thriving historic downtown. These activities include coordination, marketing and promotion of Downtown Parkville, special events, economic development, preservation of the historic nature of Downtown Parkville, and other activities to achieve its purpose.
The Executive Director reports to the Main Street Parkville Association Chair. The Executive Director is a full-time position.
The position requires the ability to work in a positive fashion with a variety of individuals through the MSPA steering committee and volunteers. The Executive Director is responsible for growing sponsorships and membership.
Areas of Responsibilities
Downtown Economic Development
Provide leadership and coordination for MSPA’s economic development activities focused on the development and implementation of business retention, business recruitment, downtown preservation and beautification.
Provide leadership and coordination for activities that promote awareness of Parkville’s downtown to the community. Responsibilities include coordinating all marketing activities to promote the downtown area and its businesses, local festivals and other downtown activities. Assist with public presentations, events and other activities that promote MSPA and its members.
Provide leadership and coordination for fund development activities including (but not limited to) researching potential grants to support MSPA initiatives, submission of grant applications, soliciting corporate sponsorships for MSPA festivals and other activities.
Provide support for all MSPA special events, including (but not limited to) Microbrew Fest, July 4th Festival, Parkville Days, Christmas on the River, Gallery of Trees and Cruise Night. Duties include planning, recruiting vendors and other participants for MSPA special events, providing support to the special event Chair and committee members, and recruiting and coordinating volunteers.
Serve as the primary liaison for members with MSPA, publish a monthly member newsletter, recruit new members and manage member retention and keep an up-to-date roster of members and maintain an up-to-date roster of Historical Downtown businesses and property owners. Plan and coordinate all membership and committee meetings, send timely meeting notices and provide a record of all membership and committee activities, including meeting minutes and other reports.
- Provide staff support for the MSPA Chair, Steering Committee, and all committees.
- Serve as spokesperson for Main Street Parkville Association.
- Provide support to insure coordination of all MSPA committees and activities.
- Develop a strong volunteer base.
- Provide support to the MSPA Treasurer with administrative tasks, including bookkeeping.
- Maintain the organization’s records and files.
Bachelor’s Degree or experience equivalent in marketing or growing a non-profit organization. You must have good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
You must be self motivated; you must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience in website maintenance, proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) and QuickBooks, Constant Contact and Grant writing.
Possess knowledge of non-profit management, the principles and practices of community relations and team building, bookkeeping/accounting practices, volunteer coordination, and project management. You must have current driver’s license, reliable transportation and insurance coverage for personal vehicle. You should be able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
