For the 26th year in a row, the City of Parkville was named a Tree City USA in 2016 by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. Parkville is one of only 15 communities in Missouri that has been named as Tree City USA for 26 years or more.
The City will host a public Arbor Day celebration on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at the large dog park in Platte Landing Park. The event will include a proclamation from Mayor Nan Johnston celebrating “Arbor Day in Parkville” to mark the 26th year that Parkville has been named a Tree City USA. Bring your dogs to the park and help us celebrate Arbor Day.
Mayor Johnston stated, “It is an honor to serve for a community that places such high regard on the importance of trees and parks. We join the Arbor Day Foundation in celebrating this special day.”
