PARKVILLE, MO, JULY 18, 2014 – July 21, 2014, the City of Parkville will welcome a small delegation from Jesús María, Jalisco of the United Mexican States. The municipality of Jesús María and the City of Parkville became partner cities in 2008 under the guidance of Parkville Mayor Kathryn Dusenbery. The purpose of the partnership is to establish friendly ties that result in a cultural and business exchange between the two cities.
Jesús María is a municipality in the Upper South region of the state of Jalisco, Mexico and has a population of approximately 18,884 citizens. Jesús María was founded in 1776 and resides in a predominantly agricultural area. Its primary industries are corn, textiles, tequila, and handmade crafts. Jesús María is also home to many beautiful and historic tourist attractions as well as picturesque views.
Mayor Nan Johnston is excited about the visiting delegation and stated, “We hope that that the delegation from Jesús María has an enjoyable visit to Parkville. It’s a wonderful benefit for both communities to have this important association as a cultural exchange.” Delegations from Jesús María and Parkville previously met in 2008. Jesús María will be visiting Parkville at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 21, 2014.
