The Board of Aldermen approved an agreement with Strategic Government Resources (SGR) for interim city administrator services at a closed session on Monday, October 10, 2016, by a vote of 7-0.
Kirk Davis will serve as the interim city administrator beginning on Monday, October 24 until a permanent city administrator is hired and in place. Davis will work a maximum of 40 hours per week at a rate of $60.34 until the permanent position is filled.
Davis has 37 years of experience in local government and previously served as city administrator in Gladstone, Missouri for 18 years. He has also worked for the City of Lee’s Summit and Jackson County. Davis holds a Masters of Business Administration from Webster University, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska and is a graduate of the University of Virginia’s Senior Executive Institute. He joined SGR as a senior vice president in 2016 and leads executive recruitments in the Kansas City metro area, Nebraska and other regions.
On October 10 the Board of Aldermen also approved an agreement with SGR for executive search services for the permanent position of city administrator for a flat fee of $18,000. SGR is one of the top three local government executive recruitment firms in the nation and has the unique ability to provide a personalized and comprehensive recruitment to meet the City’s needs. Mr. Davis will lead the search for a new city administrator concurrent with his interim duties. The recruitment process is expected to take approximately four months.
Mayor Johnston said, “Parkville was able to streamline the process and reduce costs by consolidating the interim hire and the executive recruitment with a single point of contact. Kirk has an exceptional reputation in the Kansas City region and comes with the right background and expertise to help Parkville through this period of transition. The Board and I have full confidence that Parkville will be in great shape under his management.”
Kirk Davis said, “I am looking forward to working with the Board of Aldermen and staff. The City of Parkville has many positive characteristics and an exciting future. I hope to maintain the momentum that has been developed and assist the City as it moves forward.”
