Parkville Receives TRIM Grant in 2015

PARKVILLE, MO, FEBRUARY 4, 2016 – In December 2015, the City of Parkville completed a proactive plan to perform selective removal of dead, dying and diseased wood to minimize potential risk in high traffic areas of the Sullivan Nature Sanctuary. To make this project possible, the City of Parkville was awarded the Tree Resource Improvement and Maintenance Grant (TRIM) in 2015 through the Missouri Department of Conservation.

The trees collected from the Sullivan Nature Sanctuary were deposited in the small area of Platte Landing Park and were removed via a controlled burn permitted by the Southern Platte Fire Protection District (SPFPD).

Parkville, a Tree City USA for 25 straight years, was awarded the TRIM Grant last fall and greatly appreciates the support of the Missouri Department of Conservation, who helped significantly offset project costs to make this plan possible.
