The City of Parkville is pleased to announce that Melissa McChesney, City of Parkville City Clerk, received her certification as a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) on July 28, 2023.
The CMC Program was designed to enhance the job performance of the Clerk in small and large municipalities. To earn the CMC designation, Melissa attended extensive education programs and had pertinent experience in a municipality. The CMC Program prepared Melissa to meet the challenges of the complex role of the City Clerk by providing her with quality education in partnership with institutions of higher learning, as well as state, provincial and national associations.
As part of the certification process, Melissa was an active IIMC member for more than two years, affirmed and practiced the IIMC Code of Ethics and attained over 110 points in education and experience. Melissa was hired as the City Clerk in July 2013 and received notice of her certification one day prior to her 10-year work anniversary.
City Administrator Alexa Barton said “Melissa’s professionalism, commitment and dedication to the City is phenomenal. She continually places the interest of the citizens ahead of her own personal convenience. The role of City Clerk is multi-faceted, from records management of our resolutions and ordinances to orderly preparation for the Board of Aldermen agendas and minutes. But Melissa continually stretches her bandwidth to do so much more. Things like social media communications, website information, monthly/quarterly newsletters, press releases, and the list goes on and on. She is the hub of the City and we are so fortunate that she successfully and proudly, for over 10 years, has focused on City operations in and for Parkville!”
McChesney was recognized for her accomplishment at the Board of Alderman meeting on August 29.
