The 8th Annual Paint Parkville event was held July 1-7, 2019. The City of Parkville proudly sponsored its fifth purchase award to support the event and to bring talented artists into the community. This year’s theme was “Our Parkville Neighborhoods.” Mayor Nan Johnston presented the City’s award to winning artist Tammie Dickerson for her painting titled “Old Neighborhood Charm” at the Board of Aldermen meeting on July 16, 2019.

Artists from around the Kansas City metro area converged for Paint Parkville 2019. Paint Parkville is an annual outdoor plein air painting event hosted by the Cathy Kline Art Gallery with the goal of fostering art appreciation by inviting the public to observe artists in action.

This is the fifth year the City has sponsored a purchase award for Paint Parkville. Prior themes included Parkville, the entryway sign along Highway 9 near Coffey Road east of downtown, the Parkville Nature Sanctuary and downtown Main Street. The new painting will be displayed next to the other purchase awards at Parkville City Hall.
