On Wednesday evening, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Parkville Police responded to a shooting incident near Highway 9 and Coffey Road, resulting in two men being fatally shot. One male died at the scene and the second male, who was a passenger, was pronounced dead at an area hospital around 7:20 p.m.
Parkville Police Chief Kevin Chrisman said the shooting appears to have originated from a dispute between parties over the sale of firewood in the 6700 block of NW Hidden Valley Road in unincorporated Platte County. Two adult males, along with a juvenile teenager, drove away from the location in a truck with a trailer loaded with firewood. The truck was pursued by a car until such time it pulled over on the shoulder of eastbound Highway 9. The pursuing vehicle stopped in front of the truck and a male exited the vehicle and began firing a handgun at the truck, striking both males. The juvenile was unharmed. The shooting suspect went home and contacted police to report what happened. He was taken into custody and is currently in the Platte County Jail. The Parkville Police continue to investigate the incident.
