Ballot Questions

NOVEMBER 7, 2023, SPECIAL ELECTION

On November 7, residents will have the opportunity vote on two propositions – Proposition T for a use tax and Proposition M for a marijuana tax.

PROPOSITION T
The ordinance asks voters to consider imposing a local use tax on out-of-state purchases, at a rate equal to the rate of local sales tax in effect in Parkville, 2.5%. Funds generated would be dedicated to infrastructure and capital improvements throughout the city, such as the next phase of improvements to Highway 9.
PROPOSITION M
This ordinance asks voters to consider imposing a citywide 3 percent sales tax to be placed on all retail sales on adult use marijuana in the City of Parkville, as granted by Article XIV, Section 2.6(5) of the Missouri Constitution. Funds generated would be dedicated to general revenue purposes.

APRIL 4, 2023, GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION

On April 4, two propositions – Proposition P for public safety sales tax and Proposition U for a use tax – were on the ballot. By modernizing our revenue streams, we can provide improved amenities like expanded police presence and quality infrastructure.

PROPOSITION U

The ordinance asks voters to consider imposing a local use tax on out-of-state purchases, at a rate equal to the rate of local sales tax in effect in Parkville, 2%. Funds generated would be dedicated to infrastructure and capital improvements throughout the city such as the next phase of improvements to Highway 9.

PROPOSITION P

This ordinance asks voters to consider imposing a citywide ½ percent public safety sales tax to be placed on all retail sales made in the City of Parkville. Funds generated would be dedicated to the use of public-safety related purposes, including police equipment, competitive salaries and benefits and facilities.
