The Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) is authorized in accordance with Sections 89.010 to 89.140, RSMo, 1959, and the City of Parkville Municipal Code to hear and act on:

  • Appeals of decisions made by staff in enforcement of Zoning Code
  • Variances that would not be contrary to public interests and in cases in which literal enforcement of code would result in unnecessary hardship
  • Special exceptions
  • Other considerations as may be authorized by the Board of Aldermen through ordinance

Meetings

The Board of Zoning Adjustment meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday every month (as needed) at 5:30 p.m. in the Board Room located on the first floor of City Hall. If there is no business, the monthly meeting will be cancelled. Special meetings are at the call of the Chairman.

Membership

Members are appointed by the Board of Aldermen and serve staggered five-year terms. Officers are elected annually by the members of the Board. Alternates are appointed by the Board of Aldermen, confirmed annually, serve only in the absence of an appointed member, and have no term limit.
