Parkville Sewer Customers Will Receive Sewer Bills from Platte County Regional Sewer District Beginning October 1

Effective October 1, 2024, customers of the Parkville sewer system will begin receiving their City sewer bills from the Platte County Regional Sewer District (PCRSD). The City is now partnering with PCRSD to provide sewer utility billing services to the more than 1,800 customers on the City’s sewer system.

PCRSD is a dedicated municipal sewer utility, with offices in Parkville, serving over 6,000 customers in the Parkville area and Platte County for many years. The Board of Aldermen previously entered into an agreement for maintenance and operation services with PCRSD, effective January 1, 2024. On August 20, 2024, the City amended that contract to include managing sewer billing. Adding billing to the contract will alleviate confusion for customers by providing residents a centralized location for sewer services and a more efficient utility billing system, including a discount to customers who sign up for ACH payments.

Customers impacted by this partnership will be receiving a letter with their next sewer bill to explain specific information on the transition of their account to PCRSD.

The City will still own the physical infrastructure and the Board of Aldermen will retain authority of the system, making decisions regarding necessary funding of the system. Over the next few months, the City will continue to work with residents and PCRSD throughout the transition.

Mayor Katerndahl said, “The City’s partnership with PCRSD demonstrates multiple key areas citizens have shared that are important in meeting our Strategic Goals. One such area is continued pursuit of Operational Excellence by instituting appropriate processes and systems, as well as creating strategic partnerships that benefit our community. PCRSD has triple the customer base of our own Parkville sewer services, so in many ways they are able to operate under increased economies of scale that will only mean positive things for our city and its residents. Still, we know that change can be confusing, so if customers have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Parkville City Hall.”
