Welcome to the Parkville Nature Sanctuary
The Parkville Nature Sanctuary is a wildlife preserve and educational site developed and maintained the City of Parkville with the help of a group of extraordinary volunteers. The Parkville Nature Sanctuary is a 115 acre natural outdoor area made accessible by nearly three miles of hiking trails. Daily operations of the Parkville Nature Sanctuary are overseen by a part-time Director. E-mail Director Joe Ryan with questions about the Parkville Nature Sanctuary.
The main entrance of the Parkville Nature Sanctuary is located below the Platte County Health Dept 12th and Highway 9.
- Open: One hour before sunrise
- Closes: One hour after sunset
- No dogs
- No unauthorized vehicles (including bicycles, skateboards, etc.)
- Stay on trails
- Put trash in proper receptacles
- No fires
- No hunting, fishing, or trapping
- No picking, collecting, or digging
- No firearms
- No camping
- No weddings
2017 Upcoming Events
June 7th- June 9th (Wednesday to Friday) 9:30 am – 2 pm: Nature Day Camp for 8-10 year olds. More details to come. E-mail Director Joe Ryan with questions.
June 19th- June 22nd (Monday-Thursday) 9 am – 3 pm: KC Youth Volunteer Corp.
July 10th- July 13th (Monday-Thursday) 9 am – 3 pm: KC Youth Volunteer Corp.
October 26th (Thursday) 6-8 pm Help the Nature Sanctuary carve pumpkins for the trails at Ghost Stories. More details to come.
October 28th (Saturday) 6:30 am – 8:45 pm: Ghost Stories. Sanctuary trails will close at 4 PM to prepare for the annual fundraising event. Please e-mail Director Joe Ryan with questions. More details to come.
December 2nd (Saturday) 1 pm – 3 pm: Trek with Santa. More details to come. E-mail Director Joe Ryan with questions.
Checks may be made out to the Parkville Nature Sanctuary and can dropped off or mailed to Parkville City Hall. City Hall is located at 8880 Clark Avenue, Parkville, MO, 64152. All donations are tax deductible.
