Glass bottles can be recycled in the Ripple Glass bin in the parking lot of the Platte County Community Center South YMCA just south of Marshall Dental. There are also other collection sites throughout the Kansas City metro. Recycled glass is mainly used in fiberglass insulation and new glass containers. Trees Endangering Power Lines

Evergy has a tree trimming program for trees and limbs on private property in which the company will trim the tree back away from the wires so fallen limbs will not affect the power lines. If there is a potential issue with limbs near power lines that run from pole to pole near the home, the resident can contact Evergy at 1-800-541-0545, ext. 4 or submit an online request at https://www.evergy.com/outages/safety. Trees that impact the line from a pole to a meter are the resident’s responsibility.

Evergy LogoEvergy will not take any of the wood or brush away from the site so it is the responsibility of the resident to dispose of the debris. Parkville residents can drop off the debris at the spring or fall cleanup events.

Parkville residents can contact the operations division of the Public Works Department at (816) 741-7676 for trees and limbs that have fallen on public property and public right-of-way within the city limits. City staff will remove the limbs from public property. City crews work hard to keep local roads open during and following storm events. We appreciate help from the public to notify us of debris so we can promptly respond.

Trees located in the right-of-way on Missouri state highways are state property and will be taken care of by the Missouri Department of Transportation. Residents can call MoDOT at (816) 622-6500 if any trees or limbs have fallen on Highway 45, Highway 9 or FF Highway and MoDOT will take care of removing the limbs.
