The City of Parkville is pleased to announce the launch of pilot on-demand, door-to-door ride service GEST, at 12 p.m., Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at the Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center on the Park University campus in Parkville, Mo.
A first of its kind program for Parkville – GEST, or Green Easy Safe Transportation, provides Parkville residents and Park University students sustainable, safe, reliable and affordable transit options.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome GEST to the City of Parkville and what it means for our residents and our future,” said Parkville Mayor Dean Katerndahl. “City Administrator Alexa Barton took a team approach for this – partnering with folks across the community to help get this off the ground. We couldn’t have done it without their generosity and shared commitment to our residents.”
In Parkville, the GEST program is made possible through collaboration with key community partners, including Creekside Development, eShipping, Park University, Platte County Senior Fund and Saint Luke’s North Hospital.
“The collaboration with GEST and city partners is about more than just getting from point A to point B,” said Katerndahl. “It’s about independence for our seniors, opportunity for workers, connections for our families and accessibility for the students who study, work and live in our community. We’re so appreciative of their commitment to Parkville and the people who call it home.”
GEST offers direct rides within Parkville city limits as well as trips to nearby healthcare facilities and medical offices for a flat $3 fare. Service operates weekdays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Riders can schedule a trip by calling or texting (816) 919-4378 (GEST).
While GEST may resemble app-based rideshare services, it is fundamentally different. GEST is a community-based, synergistic transportation program designed to serve residents directly, improving access to healthcare, employment, education, shopping, and civic activities—particularly for those without dependable transportation options.
