The 12th Annual Paint Parkville event was held October 4-12, 2024. The City of Parkville proudly sponsored its ninth purchase award to support the event that brings talented artists into the community. This year’s theme was the wetlands in Platte Landing Park. Mayor Dean Katerndahl presented the City’s award to winning artist Dennis Dowdy for his painting titled “Parkville Wetlands” at the Board of Aldermen meeting on November 19.
Artists from around the Kansas City metro area converged for Paint Parkville 2024. Paint Parkville is an annual outdoor plein air painting event with the goal of fostering art appreciation by inviting the public to observe artists in action. This year’s event was hosted by Wanda Jackson, owner of Parkville Art House; this was the first Paint Parkville event she hosted.
This is the ninth year the City has sponsored a purchase award for Paint Parkville. Prior themes included Parkville, the entryway sign along Highway 9 near Coffey Road east of downtown, the Parkville Nature Sanctuary, downtown Main Street, our Parkville neighborhoods, Honoring our First Responders, the Missouri River, historic Parkville and Barkville. The new painting will be displayed with the other purchase awards at Parkville City Hall.
