Police Department

The Police Department is located on the first floor of City Hall. Administrative offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mission Statement

“The mission of the Parkville Police Department is to enforce the law firmly and fairly in accordance with the United States Constitution particularly the Bill of Rights; to provide quality service by reducing crime, preserving the peace and being responsive to the public by being readily available to handle calls for service; to provide leadership in the community by setting an example through our actions, professionalism and integrity; to maintain the quality of life for the citizens of Parkville.” Kevin L. Police officers are official representatives of government. Officers are required and trusted to work within the law. Officers’ powers and duties are conferred by statute. Fundamental duties of police officers include: serving the community; safeguarding lives and property; protecting the innocent; keeping the peace; and ensuring the rights of all to liberty, equality and justice and most importantly be readily available to assist when needed. Our officers maintain high visibility through random patrol and regular attendance of community events.

The Police Department is managed by the Chief of Police with the assistance of a Captain. The department maintains a Detective Sergeant and a Sergeant assigned to each shift. Officers are assigned to a shift and a sergeant.

The City is over 15 square miles with a residential population of over 7,100 (US Census 2020). Parkville is connected by five state highways, one interstate and numerous city streets. Parkville borders Kansas City and Riverside, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas, along with several unincorporated portions of Platte County.

Parkville is home to Park University and the National Golf Club which has two golf courses.
